East Village Criterium - Iowa State Championships

Wow! Mix a kilometer of asphalt streets, add in six corners and two hills, toss in some really talented athletes racing at speeds of up to 40 mph, then paint in the Iowa State Capitol as the background and you have a recipe for some some pretty fantastic photos.

Charles Townsend of the North Star Development team leads the masters race off the starting straight away.

Jennifer Rife of the Birchwood Cafe team leads the Women's pro 1,2,3 field through the turn at Finkbine and Walnut.

Brian Wenzel of the Iowa City Cycling Club / Mercy Specialized leads the Cat 3 pack down the hill on East Walnut.

Troy Hedgecock of the North Star Development team flies through the  corner at East Walnut and East 6th.

Reed Rinderknecht / Rasmussen Bike in the Cat III race speeding north along East Sixth avenue.

Lucas Marshall of Harvest Racing / Midwest Cycling Trek Stores smokes the corner at East 6th and Locust.

Lincoln Eppard of Above and Beyond Cancer / Scheels Sports , winner of the Cat 3 race takes the Pro 1/2/3 race onto East Locust Street.

Mark Weitzel of Team Kaos/CHI Health leads the Masters pack up the hill on Pennsylvania.

Brandon Krawczyk of team Revolution Cycle/Twin Six, winner of the Pro 1/2/3 race leads the field up East Grand avenue near the end of the race.

The  Harvest Racing/Midwest Cycling Trek team controlling the pace near the top of the East Grand hill.

A quick right hand turn takes the Cat III men onto Finkbine avenue in front of the Iowa State Capitol on the short downhill to the start finish line.

Joe Peterson of the Rasmussen Bike Shop race team leads the early break away across the start/finish line in front of the Iowa State Capitol in Pro/1/2/3 action.
